Joint Industry Guidance on the Definition of the Battery Manufacturer

EUROBAT, jointly with EPBA - Consumer Batteries Europe - and Recharge, have developed a guidance to support industry stakeholders and regulators in interpreting the definition of "Manufacturer" under the Batteries Regulation.

As the third in a series of clarifying documents, this guidance provides structured analysis of the legal definition, identifies key responsibilities linked to the role, and includes practical cases. It aims to promote a consistent and accurate understanding of manufacturer responsibilities, particularly in relation to design and communication obligations, as well as labelling, QR code, and Battery Passport requirements.

The guidance is aiming to support the shared goal of ensuring all stakeholders have a common and clear understanding of the Manufacturer definition, which is essential for consistent application of the Batteries Regulation.
