about batteries

Automotive mobility batteries
used in all types of vehicles for road transportation – from ensuring the start-light-ignition functions in conventional, micro/mild/full and plug-in hybrids, through to the propulsion and auxiliary functions in mild, full and plug-in HEV and EVs.
Motive power batteries for material handling & logistics
used in all types of forklifts and automated guided industrial vehicles at production or distribution sites.
Motive power batteries for off-road applications
used in railway, marine, aviation, agriculture, construction and mining industrial vehicles and infrastructure. EUROBAT report providing more information on the motive power segments is available here.
Off-grid batteries
used for stand-alone or in mini-grid configurations to provide electrification at locations where electrical power can be provided most cost-effectively and sustainably with batteries rather than through grid extension (developing countries or small islands without mainland interconnection.) The EUROBAT Brochure on rural electrification is a document that provides general information on this market segment and is available here.
Stationary storage batteries
used in key traditional markets ‘Uninterrupted Power Supply’ and ‘Telecom’ as well as in the emerging grid-connected markets such as ‘utility large-scale grid storage’ and ‘residential/commercial energy storage behind the meter’. EUROBAT developed a report on battery energy storage in the EU and the legislative landscape, including suggestions to improve it and move towards a decarbonised energy system.
