EUROBAT feedback to laying down rules for the application of Regulation (EU) 2023/1542

EUROBAT welcomes the European Commission’s draft implementing regulation laying down rules for the application of Regulation (EU) 2023/1542, acknowledging clear improvements and responsiveness to earlier concerns regarding the labelling of batteries.

However, several key issues remain unresolved, including:

- Hazardous substances labelling.

- SLI battery capacity and cranking current labelling.

- The carbon footprint label format.

EUROBAT calls for a coherent application of the labelling requirements and considers that a postponement of the QR code obligation should be envisaged in order to align the application of both obligations to a single common date, meaning 18 months after the entry into force of the Implementing Regulation.
