Call for Local Content Requirements
EUROBAT Supports Call for EU Local Content Requirements
EUROBAT has joined a coalition of leading companies and associations urging the European Commission to introduce EU-wide local content requirements (LCRs) in the upcoming Industrial Accelerator Act (IAA). The coalition warns that Europe is not on track to meet its 2030 Net-Zero Industry Act and Critical Raw Materials Act targets, and stresses that LCRs are essential to strengthen Europe’s battery manufacturing, processing, and recycling capacity.
The joint letter calls for a clear definition of “local”, practical content thresholds, strong circularity incentives, and broad use of LCRs across EU policies. The signatories underline that well-designed LCRs would provide investment certainty, reduce strategic dependencies, and accelerate the development of a competitive European battery ecosystem.
