Automotive Batteries

Eurobat member companies manufacture a full range of starter batteries for all types of vehicle using petrol and diesel engines. These are supplied to all the major motor vehicle manufacturers as original equipment and to the replacement market. The types of batteries supplied include sealed and low-maintenance types for all duty cycles. Specialty batteries are available for arduous duty cycles with regular discharges and heavy vibration.

Motive power (traction) Batteries

Traction batteries are used principally for materials handling equipment including fork lift trucks, narrow aisle trucks, pallet trucks and for service vehicles such as floor cleaning equipment. They are supplied to original equipment manufacturers and to the replacement market. A very wide range of applications are served, some using large batteries comprised of single cells in steel or plastic trays and others using smaller monobloc batteries. Sealed and low-maintenance technologies are both used. Battery chargers are also supplied along with battery management equipment and a wide variety of features to reduce costs.

Stationary (standby) Batteries

Stationary or standby batteries are used for ensuring secure power supplies for telecommunications, computer and data processing equipment, emergency lighting, utilities and many applications where power must be provided continuously when the utility is disconnected. Both lead/acid and nickel/cadmium batteries are used for these duty cycles. Chargers, rectifiers, battery monitoring and battery management equipment is also supplied.

Electric Vehicle Applications

Both lead/acid and nickel/cadmium batteries are used for electric vehicle applications, particularly for delivery vehicles and public transportation. Newer applications are growing and there is a trend towards hybrid electric vehicles.

Advanced Systems

Batteries are widely used for aerospace and military applications, on the one hand for submarine main batteries to small batteries for hand held devices. Eurobat member companies offer a variety of chemistries for these applications in order to provide the correct power solutions for all applications.

Nickel Cadmium Batteries

Nickel/cadmium batteries are used for standby as well as other applications. They are available with pocket-plate or sintered electrodes in steel or plastic containers. A full range of applications is served and nickel/cadmium is especially suited to electrically or mechanically arduous applications.

Nickel/cadmium batteries offer good resistance to electrical abuse as they can be left in a discharged condition for long periods without permanent damage and also offer good performance in higher ambient temperatures.

Nickel Cadmium batteries are used in a variety of industries:

Railways and public transportation

Telecom networks

Aircraft batteries
