Event: EUROBAT FORUM 2010

The 2010 edition of the Eurobat Forum and Annual General Meeting gathered around 80 participants, among Eurobat members, speakers, press and other invitees. The two-days event debuted with the Committee and Board meetings. Two break-out sessions were also organised in the afternoon to showcase the work of Eurobat in new battery applications: renewable energies and e-mobility. To finalise the first day of the event a networking diner was organised in the Die Fischerhuette am Schlachtensee.
During the second day of the event, the members gathered for the Annual General Meeting (AGM), where different internal issues of the Association were discussed ( budget, new membership requests and resignations, Eurobat strategic review, etc). The AGM also included presentations from the chairs of the different committees and the introduction of the new Eurobat member - Nissan.
Following the AGM, the Eurobat Forum took place. This year, the main topics discussed ranged from battery recycling efficiency to new battery applications (battery energy storage in renewable energies and HEV, pHEV or EV).
Speakers of the different sessions included Alain Vassart (European Battery Recycling Association), Ducan Hobbs (Macquarie Securities Group, a market analysis company), Jan Tytgat (Umicore, a materials technology group) and Wolfgang Reinhart (Roland Berger Strategy Consultants). each session led to an interesting debate with the participants on the battery industry status and outlook in the different topics.
Important to mention as well that the date of the next Eurobat Forum and AGM was announced. In 2011, the meeting point for the battery industry will be Barcelona, Spain from 26th to 27 May.
