EUROBAT Contributes to EU-US Dialogue on eMobility

EUROBAT has been participating in a series of high level meeting organised by the US Mission to the European Union in Brussels to discuss e-mobility with key stakeholders from both sides.
These meetings have been attended by 25 high level representatives from EU and US government and the electric vehicle/automotive supply chain.
The main objective of this preparatory work within the structure is to discuss concrete topics and serve as a basis for high-political endorsement by the TransAtlantic Economic Council (TEC). Through that the partners will be able to identify common themes and solutions that, if successful, can be followed by delivery through relevant EU/US structures such as Cenelec or concrete international bodies such as IEC or ISO.
Four working groups have been created:

  • Prepare and coordinate joint standardization activities
  • Joint initiatives – Transportation of Li-Ion batteries
  • Joint initiatives – Access to resources
  • Other joint initiatives (harmonisation, exchange of views

The Dialogue will continue in the second quarter of 2011, with delivery of initial results anticipated by Summer.
