The EUROBAT Forum took place in Brussels, Belgium this year. Similar to previous years, EUROBAT membership had a series of internal meetings on 4 and 5 June. The EUROBAT Forum on Friday 6 June, was an excellent opportunity for the Battery industry, represented in EUROBAT, to get together with Brussels' based stakeholders and decision-makers on the various issues impacting the sector. More information, including a press release will soon be available.

10:00 to 17:00: Workshop on Occupational Exposure in the Lead-based Battery Industry (for EHS managers only)
This session will provide an overview of a recent publication released by EUROBAT in collaboration with JAMA, ILA, KAMA and ACEA: “A Review of Battery Technologies for Automotive Applications”. The panel participants will be invited to share their views on this publication and how they see the future developments for different battery technologies used to improve fuel efficiency in the automotive sector.
10:20 to 10:50 - Break
The decarbonisation of the EU’s electricity sector will require the commercialisation of off- and on-grid storage technologies. The panel participants will discuss what is needed to make sure Europe’s battery manufacturing base is equipped to meet this projected demand, and what requirements are being imposed by other stakeholders. This session will start with a presentation on the latest data and figures on industrial batteries provided by David Shaffer, EUROBAT Board Member and President of EnerSys.
As the EU takes action to improve resource efficiency across all sectors, Europe’s automotive and industrial battery industry continues to improve its collection and recycling schemes for different technologies. The panel participants will discuss how a closed-loop system has been established for Lead-based automotive and industrial batteries in Europe, and what is being done to make similar progress with other chemistries.
