EUROBAT’ Secretary General Speaks at Brussels Motor Show

Alfons Westgeest, Secretary General of EUROBAT, was one of the speakers of the FEBIAC Seminar “The Impact of Electrical Powertrains and e-Mobility on the Automotive Suppliers Base: New Stakeholders and Opportunities” that took place in Brussels in January 2011.

The half-day seminar was part of the pre-opening day of the Brussels Motor Show. The seminar provided an opportunity to see the developments at local level and how it interlinks with European and global developments. It gathered around 120 participants from different associations, car makers and suppliers. 

The seminar had as speakers Mr Hugues Van Honacker from the European Commission DG MOVE, Dr Thomas Weber and Mr Eric Bazile from Robert Bosch, Mr Cor van Otterloo from PUNCH Powertrain and Mr Philippe Guillaume representing IBM.
 
Mr Westgeest presentation focused on the role of the battery supply chain and issues related to standardization of electric vehicles. EUROBAT is currently the co-chair of Group Batteries within the CEN CENELEC Focus Group on Electric Vehicles. Alfons Westgeest presentation also covered the objectives and tasks of this group.
